About the author...
Children’s picture book Author, Elaine Mills lives in regional Victoria with her husband three girls and their fluff ball Groodle, Fergus. Since 2010 Elaine's partner has been employed in an industry which predominately requires FIFO work so she is no stranger to the challenges this type of work and shift work can place on a family.
Elaine began writing her first picture book "My Daddy Works Away From Home" in 2019 to help her children better understand why Daddy didn't come home after work at the end of each day like lots of other Daddy's do. With a beautiful rhyming story, relatable illustrations, and themes this book is like a warm hug for those children at home missing their parent/special adult who works away from home.
Children of FIFO workers have a lot of BIG feelings and this book shows them that its okay to feel them all.
Elaine enjoys writing stories for children that provide a safe and warm space to explore heartfelt messages in a subtle and meaningful way as well as creating humorous tales which fuel excitement, imagination, and wonder. Keep an eye out for more publications coming soon!
